Lymington Sea Wall in the fog on Kodak Portra 160
Fog. Thick fog. Hmm Plan B, an impromptu stroll along part of Lymington’s Sea Wall, accpanied by the Isle of Wight ferry fog-horning past in the murk and the creepy tinkle of bits of yachts and boats in the breeze.
Inchmery Lane on Expired (1999) Ilford XP1 400
There I was all ready to develop it it when I spotted at the very last minute that although it’s a black and white film stock, it’s also C-41 developing process. Mind f*ck 🤪
Calshot on Polaroid High definition 100 ISO
Polaroid High definition 100 ISO. This film - where to start. Bought a couple of years ago in a job lot on eBay, it’s been sat on my shelf since. It’s expired (obviously) and from what I can gather form online searches it dates form the early 2000s.
Lepe on Lomochrome Metropolis
Down to Lepe once again on a overcast and slightly drizzly morning, this time with a roll of Metropolis
Lepe on Ilford Delta 400
As we turned to walk back we felt the force of the wind and drizzle. Incredibly refreshing and perfect for what had been, up to that moment, a pretty stressful day.
Southampton on Fujifilm Fujicolor 200
I left the Shire and headed into the city today with Kitty. I’m a bit apprehensive about shooting around a lot of people so I opted for the dinky Rollei 35T which is so small and inoffensive, mobile phones are bigger.
Lepe on Rollei Infrared
I was left feeling bereft after the sad demise of my Nikon FM2n, only one thing would cheer me up - a replacement. An eBay purchase, the Canon EOS 3 is my first Canon camera, and boy do I love how it feels in my hand.
Failed - Hanologital Winter 2023
A total fail - the emulsion completely lifted off the film in places.
Failed, but funky as f*ck.
Hythe, Southampton on Wonderpan 400
Another pretty lazy roll shot on my daily dog walk on a pretty standard grey January afternoon. The tiny Rollei 35T popped in my coat pocket and a smelly greyhound harnessed up and I was off.
Tulips on Kodak Portra 400
It was a busy day at work and for the first time I struggled balancing working full time and shooting a roll of film a day.
Lepe on Expired JCH StreetPan 400
A really windy morning down at Lepe with the Lubitel 2 and an expired (2021) roll of Bergger Pancro 400.
Spring Garden on Kodak Tri-X 400
The Bronica love affair continues…at least its did until it began to stop winding on after this roll.
Pig Bush on Kodak Tri-X 400
I certainly had a lot less faith in this camera than its metal counterpart - but was I just being a camera snob? Well I found focusing much more of as struggle than the Lubitel 2, but otherwise it felt pretty familiar. I really don’t like that there’s one flimsy clip keeping the back of the camera shut though.
Keyhaven on Expired Ilford Delta 100
Not long after I got into film photography I desperately wanted a Leica. I also didn’t want to pay thousands of pounds for one. The MDa was the compromise. Leica build, quality, weighty, beautiful but no viewfinder and no exposure metering. Yes you read that right, no viewfinder.
Family on Polaroid Color Frames
I have forgotten how much more receptive anyone is when you point the fun and familiar looking Polaroid in their face.Everything feels lot less serious and intimidating.
Pig Bush on Ilford Delta 100
The camera I used today was the Exakta RTL 1000. A gift from my father in law, a retired police crimescene photographer, he purchased this camera new back in early 1970s because of its feature 1/1000 seconds shutter speed.
Keyhaven on dubblefilm Revolog
Ventured to Keyhaven just after the sun came up to try and get some moody contrast black and white shots on my Bronica.
Hatchet Pond on Kodak Gold 200
A present from my mum at Christmas, I wasn't sure what to expect from the Zeiss Ikonta 521. Produced from 1938 to 1954, this small medium format 120 film camera is suprisingly light and for me has the best of both worlds - more function and better quality than smaller 120 pin hole cameras and much lighter than the house brick weights of the likes Bronicas, Hasselblad and Mayima (to name but a few).
Lepe on Kodak Tri-X 400
I bought a job lot of Bronicas on eBay last year. My trusty Hasselblad 500cm had started to stick and I wanted something similar that I could use whilst I sent the Hassy off for a service.
