I bought a job lot of Bronicas on eBay last year. My trusty Hasselblad 500cm had started to stick and I wanted something similar that I could use whilst I sent the Hassy off for a service. I chose the Bronica ETRSi on recommendation from Adrian whose photography always blows my mind.
The Bronica although similar to the Hasselblad in many ways is irritating different in a few little ways (removing the film back is done opposite and my muscle memory needs to catch up!) There's also more levers and bits to make sure you set right before taking a photo. don't get me wrong, it's still pretty basic, it's just more complicated than my beloved Hasselblad.
Well, it's taken me 6 months to put a roll of film through it (I hang my head in shame) and so this morning I sat down and read the manual carefully, loaded it up with one of my favourite films of all time, TriX and headed down to local Lee beach. A nippy -1 degrees, the sun was just breaking through the morning clouds and I was very glad I learnt my lesson from earlier last week and remembered my gloves.
I was only at the beach for half an hour, it was beautiful and calm but that sort of early morning low light so I was guesstimating the aperture needed. I came away happy but apprehensive, really hoping that the film turned out ok.
