Lepe with the Pentax 645Z

Ooof, Storm Amy is here. It hasn’t been as brutal as we were expecting down South so I headed to local Lepe beach with my trusty, and old, Pentax 645Z and a selection of other film cameras (those photos will be for another day).

I loaned the 645Z back in September 2015 from Calumet for a trip to New York and fell instantly in love with the image quality and feel of the albeit chonky camera. A couple of years later I bought the camera and I’ve had it for 8 years. Recently I’ve been reminiscing about how much I loved medium format digital images and I’m considering buying either the Hasselblad X2D 100C, Leica M11-P or Fujifilm GFX 100s II.

In the meantime, whilst researching and making that choice, I remembered my Pentax 645Z which has been gathering dust for the past couple of years on a shelf so fired it up. I’ve been using it daily since and have really fallen back into love with it - despite it’s huge weight.
