I really enjoyed going through the photographs taken at my mothers last week and sharing them in Through the Collectable Keyhole, and I loved the reaction from readers too. It seems that I'm not the only one with a love for the old, and unusual. It never ceases to amaze me how hard one's memory can be jogged by objects that once had a place in your own childhood. Objects that are triggers, you see them, there's a mental click and suddenly you are bombarded with a stream of related memories, the smell of your grandmothers house, an old friend, the imagery in your mindspace of the the tall foxgloves in a garden. It's a beautiful thing, and so I'm making this a series, a regular feature.

So today I take you back to my mothers dining room and a few of the gazillion objects within (and no, that's not an exaggeration). My personal favourite has to be the Batman shaped Viewfinder - how about you? Maybe you have a fondness for a Frister & Rossmann sewing machine...

I leave you with this - How gorgeous is this butterfly illustration? Part of a cigarette advertisement. Not photos of rotting lungs back in those days...
